Tuxedo Junction

This ukulele is inspired by Erskine Hawkins’ song Tuxedo Junction, a hit in the early 1930s. In this century, the late Frankie Manning choreographed a version of the Sham Sham to this song- a line dance popular during the swing revival. Both the song and dance are playful and joyful, and I hope this comes out in the piece.

This ukulele is part of a series of mosaic musical instruments called Glassical Music. It is made with stained glass, tiles, and metal.

This ukulele is art and not intended for actual use.
