Asshole Flowers

Acrylic, Rose Petals, Cloth, Molding Paste on Canvas

This painting is inspired by a relationship-ending fight. My lover no-showed, no-called for a holiday weekend we had planned. Monday night, I came home to find a dozen roses and an apology note left on my porch. Flowers should be a gift of love, not an apology—especially when they are in lieu of an actual apology and discussion. That’s why I call these flowers Asshole Flowers.

This painting contains the Asshole Flowers my ex-lover gave to me, his apology note, the shirt I dried my tears on as I cried over the demise of this relationship, molding paste, and acrylic paint.
