A Burning Soul

Framed

This painting is inspired by unrequited love. After trying for months to get into someone’s heart, I realized that I couldn’t allow my life and happiness to depend on whether this man loved me back. In rejection, I managed to find myself and reclaim my self-worth. This painting and haiku were inspired by the process of self-discovery.

A Burning Soul

My soul burns for you…

An eternal fire that aches

To mingle and join

Will you privilege me?

You greet my fire with water

And my flame recedes

Charred but rebuilding…

Time passes, and I find, now

My soul burns for me.
